Our tips for going back well to oriental dance !

Of course, it's almost the end of summer, sun, beach and holidays, but "Yeahhh" Bellydance lessons will soon resume! This will be the time to polish up your level and mastery of this discipline or the opportunity to learn for the first time.

How should you choose your oriental dance teacher?

Some will already have their favorite teacher close to home with time slots and the pedagogy that suits them. Others will have to find a Bellydance teacher. To do this, go to dance schools, associations and other MJC in your region, oriental dance is very common and the discipline widely taught.
Find out about the teacher's background and in particular if he or she attended oriental dance training or workshops with other well-known international teachers or great dancers. It's also better if the teacher has a good knowledge of the anatomy to teach dance moves that are safe for your back, pelvis, and other used body parts.
Make sure to check the premises. It will be easier to practice Bellydance in large rooms (if you use large-scale props such as Isis wings or the oriental dance cane) preferably with mirrors to facilitate your learning.
Also ask for the number of students per lesson to make sure that the room will not be crowded and that you will be able to learn in the best conditions.
Find out whether there is a show at the end of the year or not and ask to see DVDs and photos from the gala, this will give you an idea of each teacher's choreographic style. Also ask your teacher for the end-of-year gala costume budget so as not to be surprised at the time of purchase and possibly the gala's date if it is already scheduled to make sure you are available on that day.

What Bellydance outfit should you plan on?

Finally, plan a feminine and comfortable dance outfit for the lessons. Cotton T-shirtleggings or pants, sequined belt or Spandex short skirt that will perfectly match your dance moves as well as small ballet shoes.

Most oriental dance teachers offer introductory classes or free discovery weeks, go for them and give in to the passion!
