Fashion trends in Bellydance

Times are changing and Bellydance although anchored in its traditions, has evolved constantly over the years with the rhythm of the dance habits but also the tastes and desires of the oriental dancers as well as their public. This is how new trends emerge to our delight. These contribute to making Oriental dance a timeless art!

Onstage bellydance costumes

While 5 or 10 years ago, the trend was to Bellydance costumes loaded with beaded embroidery associated with many strass and sequins, but also to very “flashy” colors, today the oriental dancers favor sobriety and elegance. For example, this lacy Bellydance costume, veiled dress, or this neutral and without artifice 2-piece set are now acclaimed by the Bellydancers.
Comfortable, stretchy and plain, they also have the advantage of being adjustable with a Bellydance belt or scarf of your choice and can be easily customized with some strass or beads, according to your taste or to match a choreographic project. In addition, they are offered at low prices!

If other Bellydance costumes have details, Belly dancers will prefer beautiful transparent strass to beads, glitter, and sequins, and favor the strass’s quality to quantity.

In terms of colors, neutral colors such as white, pastels such as water green, or even midnight blue are the most sought after at the expense of fuchsia, apple green or bright yellow.

Some Bellydance items can be considered as "classics" such as the satin oriental skirt (it goes with everything and looks great with its silky and loose fabric), the beaded bra but also the wrap top which with its shape, fits everyone, while covering a minimum.

What about sequins?
It is true that they are not a favorite for the intermediate and confirmed Bellydancers but remain the first choice of beginners who look for good value and immediate immersion in the oriental traditions. They are therefore easily attracted to these first-price sequined belts and the type of top or skirt also decorated with sequins.

Bellydance accessories

Isis wings, the veil and fans are the Belly dancers’ favorite accessories who nowadays are staying away of the cane used for traditional dances. Indeed, they seek primarily fluid accessories synonymous with femininity, which value the dancer in his movements and create both sensation and emotion in the eyes of the audience.

However, the recent arrival of LEDs has shaken up the show and the purchase of Oriental dancers who are choosing more and more the lighted Isis wings and the pairs of light up fans. The choreographies are then thought and worked according to the scenic rendering of these incredibly captivating accessories.

Bellydance class outfits

The complete, yet aesthetic and comfortable outfits that were found in excess during classes, workshops, and major Bellydance festivals of oriental dance look glum. Some models, especially seen in recent years and worn by many dancers (sometimes in the same course) are less popular today.
Indeed, they want to stand out with their own outfit, one that reflects their personality and make them unique. In addition, the modular and interchangeable side of the outfit is very important to vary styles at a lower cost.
This is how the belly dance combinations, synonymous with renewal, are now the big trend: feminine, comfortable, covering, shaping, in all colors... We like to acquire this centerpiece, especially in black and then match it as we see fit with Bellydance short skirts, scarves, belts and change how we look depending on the occasion!

To sum up, we are now looking for a sober and sophisticated Oriental dance costume, ultra feminine accessories that spark sensation, as well as comfortable, unique, and flexible class outfits! What will happen in the years to come? Tell us what your predictions are!
